OK… one more post…

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the parents and students for the incredible end of year gifts. My family and I were so touched by the generosity. So thank you for the gift cards, artwork, baked goods, chocolates, and kind words… I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!!!

Again, have a safe and fun summer and I look forward to seeing most of you back at Boundary in September. For those moving on, best wishes in your new adventures and I expect you to keep in touch!

In summer sunshine,

Mr. Meyer

Hello Parents and Students,

This will likely be my last post of the 2016-2017 school year. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the students for your hard work and committment throughout the year… and thank you to the parents for all of your kind words and support since September. We have been together for the past 10 months (longer for those students I had last year) and I truly consider all of you part of my family. Please take care over the summer break… I look forward to seeing you back at Boundary in September eager to start a new adventure and excited to tell of summer fun. Thank you, thank you!!!!!

Tomorrow and Thursday (the official last day) I am allowing students to bring electronics to school to enjoy in class. Please remember to charge your devices before bringing them to the room. Tomorrow we will also play capture the flag with Mr. Choi’s class to get some exercise and enjoy the sunny weather. And don’t forget, on Thursday we have the recognition assembly between recess and lunch.

Have a wonderful evening and take care!

Hello Parents and Students,

Today we finished our last spelling test of the year 🙂 That, officially, was our last test of the 2016-2017 school year!!!

A reminder that next week the last day of school is on Thursday, July 29, and it is a full day. We will have the grade 7 farewell assembly on Tuesday, June 27 @ 1:00 in the school gym. As well, we will have the year-end recognition assemble on Thursday, June 29 @ 11:00 on the school gym. Grade 6 parents are welcome to join the recognition assembly if they want… but space is limited.

Finally, parents, please keep reminding your child about behaviour at the end of the year… many students are having difficulty with energy and kindness as the final day approaches. I know students are excited to start their vacations but we need to be respectful as that final day approaches. Hopefully all parents are reading the website still and can talk about the importance of social responsibility. Thanks!

Have a wonderful evening and weekend!

Hello Parents and Students,

Just a reminder that Grid Art is due tomorrow. As well, our final spelling test is tomorrow morning morning… so study tonight please.

Tomorrow I would like to play some board games in the afternoon. Students are encourage to bring 1 board game that they would like to play with a friend or two. Please do not forget to bring the games as we can only play if we have enough. Thanks!

Have a sunny evening!

Hello Parents and Students,

Yesterday we had a great trip to Cultas Lake Waterpark. Although the weather was a bit wet at times, the students seemed to have a fun time!

The year is quickly coming to an end. As the final day approaches we will be doing a lot of fun activities in and out of the classroom. Today, for example, we played some California kickball with Mr. Choi’s grade 7 class. Tomorrow I am asking the students to bring some board games so we can demonstrate probability in games.

As I have mentioned before in posts, please talk to your child about behaviour as the summer approaches. I have noticed (as have supervision aides) that many students are beginning to form a big group, and that their behaviours in such a larger group are not always kind and/or appropriate. What I have noticed is that students are trying to stand-out/impress the large group and in doing so they are acting in a less than friendly way. Also, with hormones and ‘crushes’ peaking, the students are really trying to get the attention of each other. I would like to make the end of year as relaxed as possible but when behaviours do not meet my expectations then I need to re-think our final activities. Please talk with your child about their behaviours at the end of the year… what they see, what their role might be, and how they can help. Sometimes a reminder from a parent at this time can really help! Thank you!

*** Please make sure you have a calculator for tomorrow’s Grade 6 assessment ***

Have a wonderful evening!

Hello Parents and Students,

A reminder that tomorrow is our big Cutlas Lake Waterpark field trip. Students need to arrive at the school no later than 8:20 am. The bus leaves promptly at 8:30 am so don’t be late!!!

We will arrive back at the school at approximately 4:00 pm. We are asking parents to arrive at Boundary for pickup closer to 3:45 pm just in case we get back early.

Please make sure that students have proper gear for the waterslides (bathing suit, towel, change of clothes, etc) and that includes sun blocker. Concession stands will be open but I do suggest that students bring a lunch or at least a large snack. No cameras or electronics are allowed on the trip… please see that your child leaves these expensive items at home. On the bus, students can bring cards, mazes, or a book to pass the time.

Today we went over groups and expectations for the trip. Please take the opportunity tonight to review behaviour expectations with your child… I would like our last field trip to be fun and run smoothly… Thanks!

Have a good evening and I will see students tomorrow morning by 8:20 am in the undercover area.
