Hello Parents and Students,

Enjoy the sun this evening because tomorrow is supposed to get stormy!!!

Today we started the “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen. This is one of my favourite novels of all-time. I think the book will generate excitement from the students, and we will have a lot of fun topics to discuss/study over the coming weeks. Please remind your child to avoid reading ahead in the book as many of the activities rely on reading at a specific pace.

In math we are continuing to work through the Number Sense chapter of Jump Math 6.1. Right now we are reviewing addition and subtraction. Next week we will look at reviewing multiplication and division. These mathematical concepts can by tricky for students so be sure to look over math homework in the coming days. Thanks!

Hopefully over the long weekend you got a chance to look over the Young Entrepreneur Project information I sent home. We will be starting this fabulous project either tomorrow or Friday. Much of this project is to be done at home so please ask how things are going (after all, many of you will be loaning $ and will want a profitable return 🙂 )

Finally, I have asked the student to watch a TV show (maybe a cartoon) by Friday to allow them to fill-out a media worksheet titled, “Target Market.” The students were excited that watching TV was actually a homework assignment 🙂

Have a wonderful evening!

Mr. Meyer
